Peter Milostic at Victorian State Titles

Milostic news
We are Back from yet another trip south. This was the Victorian state tiltes held in Ballarat. It was 3 hard days of racing,a 40km time trial, criterium and 153km road race.My goal was to defend my 3year time trial reign, but it wasn`t to be. I finished 4th, 41sec off the win. Things had not gone to plan in the lead up, but as I always say (That`s racing) I am sure I will be back again next year.As for the other races I finished but not much to report. The road race was hard with only 22 finishers from 111starters. For me I am sick once again! So I will rest before this weekend's Cootamundra classic and 6day tour of the Murray. Till then bye for now

Left Ben Grenda in action. Ben is the son of Michael Grenda who was a member of the gold medal Team Pursuit of 1984. Over the last couple of months Ben has had success at interstate and local competition.  In May he competed in a Junior 2 Day tour in Adelaide and was the outright winner after placing third in the prologue time trial and winning both road stages.  He followed up in June by winning all state championships in his age division. Ben uses Speedplay Track Specials on the track.

FRANK FORTUNA MEETS FELICE GIMONDI

In a recent business trip to Milan, Italy, Frank Fortuna met up with Felice Gimondi. Gimondi is one of only three riders to win all of the top five races in cycling, those being the following: Tour de France, Giro d’Italia, Vuelta a Espana (the three Grand Tours), the World Championship Road Race, and the Paris-Roubaix Classic (the most prestigious single-day classic).

The only other riders to do this were Eddy Merckx of Belgium and Bernard Hinault of France.  Felice in his heyday pictured right.

The team rides Cinelli frames and rolls on the Vuelta Wheelsets. They had recent success in the Tour of Bright, where Robert Tighillo took out Stage 4 of the race. Colnago – Caravello win 35th Tour of New Caledonia!!

Colnago – Caravello team rider Peter McDonald recently took the yellow winners jersey in the Tour of New Caledonia. The tour was over ten days with Pete holding a 1min 48s advantage over the rest of the peloton. The Colnago – Caravello team consisted of Peter McDonald, Brendan Brooks, Jason Hegert and George Bunt. The team was closely supported by the FRF Couriers/Randwick Botany team of Josh Marden, Robbie Cater, Stuart Shaw and Cameron Wise.

The Tour of New Caledonia was well represented by a number of Australias top teams including MGZT who had top Australian riders Robert McLachlan and Shaun Higgerson.  The team worked well together to defend Pete’s yellow jersey through out the tour to record a well deserved win.

Team manager Dominic Caravello was with the team every step of the way and was very proud to see Pete cross the line first.
